plans this week?
Well, we’d love to see you!

Glover is in the building presenting a talk not too far off topic

Square Chapel, wait for it… “Edy
Hurst’s Comedy Version Of Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version Of HG
Wells’ Literary Version (Via Orson Welles’ Radio Version And Steven
Spielberg’s Film Version) Of The War Of The Worlds” is

music! Of course the staple Friday Night Live is back,
celebrating our local music scene! This week you’ll be able to catch
Rebecca Barron, Conor Joy & Kinaara.
We’re beyond buzzing to welcome the legendary and arguably one of
the the first great English electric folk groups, Fairport
Convention. Host DJ Drew Stansall
(former saxophone player with The Specials and Prince Buster)
will be spinning a packed night of music celebrating the epic
cult film Quadrophenia
on Saturday!
On
Sunday, Lyngo Theatre will be bringing a fairy-tale classic to
life! Leaping off the page and onto the stage is The Curious Adventures
of Pinocchio! With all the film award ceremonies going on around
us, feel part of it and come and experience the best of film!

David Glover – August 1842 – The
People versus the Establishment
Wednesday 22nd February
An inspiring story of a few hot summer
days when the world was topsy-turvy and embattled
mill owners shivered in their shoes.
For some days in August 1842, People
Power brought the mills of Halifax to a total
standstill – this was ‘The Great Strike.’ How and why
did this extraordinary situation arise? What did
Plug-drawing involve, and what was the input of local
Chartists? Soldiers were attacked at Salterhebble,
innocent citizens were assaulted by troopers, some
being killed. David attempts to explain the confusion…
NB*
Ticket income from David Glover’s Illustrated Local
History presentations goes directly into supporting
Square Chapel.
