Cleckheaton Writers Group minutes, Monday 6 February 2023

Cleckheaton Writers Group (CWG) met on Monday evening with Gemma, Dali, Michelle, Karen and Kathy in attendance, Barbara, Cassie and Alice having passed on their apologies.

The minutes from the last CWG meeting were passed.

WIP updates: Karen was not chosen as a finalist for WriteNow2023 but has sent her picture book text to Barry Timms and received feedback. She will be looking at this and then contacting him for their 1-2-1. She has also submitted her RS novel to Bookouture following a successful pitch. Gemma has been editing and taking part in Word Count Warriors. Dali has written a 100 word drabble about the countryside at night. Michelle has been plot planning. Kathy has rewritten her Earl and Mrs Dunstan section of her novel at the beginning and she now feels she needs to figure out how to move on into the rest of the story, i.e. the accident.

Michelle informed members that although she did not win the Wolves Literature competition, she did find it interesting looking at the winners pieces which led to a discussion about subjectivity. She has also listened to a BBCR2 interview with a writer/journalist that she also found informative.
