DON'T HUG ME I'M SCARED + PUPPET MAKING WORKSHOP

Several puppets sit around a dinnertable, a yellow puppet with blue hair, a red puppet that looks like a mop-head and a green duck.

3:30pm / Sun 26 February

If our in-person watch party marathon of the demented Channel 4 show Don't Hug Me I'm Scared sounded fun before, it just got even better with a new, free DIY puppet workshop before the screening with Leeds comic, performer and puppeteer Freddie Hayes.

The screening will be BYOP (Bring Your Own Puppet) but if you don't have a puppet ready to go then it's a perfect chance to make a mini-friend to enter our Best Puppet competition. We'll also be doing a prize for the best cosplay so you better bring it! 👌

Find out more about the workshop and book your tickets to join Freddie, Red Guy, Yellow Guy, and Duck as they learn everything there is to know, with the help of some friendly talking objects in this surreal, existential, dark puppet comedy.

FILM SCREENINGS

Wolf Manor + Q&A

A wolf-man is silhouetted against the full moon.

7pm / Thursday 23 February

Things haven’t been going well for the exhausted crew of a low-budget gothic horror film set in the British countryside. It was bad enough having to deal with their lead actor, a washed-up alcoholic thespian, but now it seems that there’s a new problem to deal with, with much sharper teeth.

Trapped inside the walls of the old country house they’ve been filming in, beleaguered assistant Fiona and the rest of the crew must find a way to survive the night and finish the shoot in one piece. Literally.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Director Dominic Brunt.

Talia's Journey

A young woman with a bandanna tied in her hair looks, with determination, towards the sky.

10am / Thursday 23 February

Talia is a young Belgian woman who travels to her ancestral home in Senegal for the first time to connect with the extended family she's never met. Staying in a luxury villa with her privileged cousin Binta, it isn’t too long before she is restless to explore beyond the walls of the villa and discover more about her roots.
Enter Malika, a working-class street seller who shows Talia a different city to the one she’d imagined, making her start to question her own identity and role within this new world.

Before I Change My Mind

2:30pm / Saturday 25 February

What would you do, to fit in? The long-awaited debut feature from Edmonton-born filmmaker Trevor Anderson asks this question, taking viewers back to 1987 where new, non-binary student Robin is starting their first day at a new school.
While the other students wonder if Robin is a boy or a girl, Robin finds themselves strangely drawn to the school bully, forging a complicated bond. Soon they start to have to make increasingly dangerous choices in order to fit in, but at what price to their own identity.

Cherry

Close up of a young woman, smiling, with a flower wreath in her hair and colourful balloons behind her.

12:30pm / Satruday 25 February

Cherry is a young woman drifting through life, still living with her parents and dividing her time between her job at the costume shop, rollerblading dance team, semi-serious boyfriend. But everything threatens to change when Cherry discovers she is pregnant and has less than 24 hours to make a huge decision about her future.
Charming but thoughtful, Sophie Galibert’s bold directorial debut is a fresh take on embracing adulthood. Winner of the Audience Award for Best Feature Film (Online) at Tribeca Film Festival 2023.
