Hello,
Every year our Single
Poem Competition includes a special £250 prize
for the best poem by an Unpublished Poet, whose work has never been
published before. All you need to do is mark your entry with a ‘U’,
so we know to include you.
This won’t affect your chances of being considered for the £2,000
first prize – it will simply double your chance of recognition. In
2019 Regi Claire won our main prize with the first poem she’d ever
written! So sift through all those poems you’ve never submitted,
and the ones that have been bounced back from other competitions,
and give us a try. We publish all of the top 20 finalists in the
magazine, and there’s always a handful who have never been
published before.
Don’t worry if your best poem has already been submitted elsewhere.
We welcome simultaneous submissions, so let us see it anyway. If it
wins with us, you can always withdraw from other places.
Take it from us, even if nothing comes of it, taking a chance on
yourself is already a huge win. You have until midnight on Monday,
so forget Christmas shopping this weekend and invest in your craft
instead.
Good luck!
