This year we have created a small waiting lounge with seating at The Light and it is located next to the top of the escalators that lead to the first level of Vue. It sounds like the sound of Julie Madly Deeply, expect a truly Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious show from Sarah-Louise Young. In need of a laugh? Local lad and Britian’s Got Talent runner up Jack Caroll presents his new show ‘Walking Funny’. It’s Friday, you know what that means? Friday Night Live! This week with Zha Olu & No Nonsense. We have a busy Saturday, with a special performance from Jeneba Kanneh-Mason in the afternoon before we welcome blues legends The Stumble. The spooky season isn’t over yet, we have a special screening of Nosferatu with live accompaniment by Chris Green. We also have a selection of film screenings and only £5 per ticket you can afford to treat yourself. This Week N’famady Kouyaté Monday 31st October N’famady Kouyaté is a young energetic master musician from Guinea (Conakry), who relocated to Cardiff (Wales) in 2019. A talented multi-instrumentalist who wowed audiences across the UK and Ireland. N’famady’s primary instrument is the balafon – the traditional wooden xylophone, sacred to West African culture and his family heritage of the griot/djeli. In Guinea he founded ‘Les Héritiers du Mandingue’ a tradi-modern group that toured extensively in West Africa. Tickets Julie Madly Deeply Thursday 3rd November Adored by millions, Dame Julie Andrews is a genuine showbiz icon. This charming yet cheeky cabaret takes an engaging look at fame and fandom, through the eyes and voice of award-winning performer Sarah-Louise Young. Julie’s songs from musicals including Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music and My Fair Lady are intertwined with stories and anecdotes about Andrews’ own life, from her beginnings as a child star to the more recent challenges of losing her famous singing voice. Tickets Jack Carroll: Walking Funny Friday 4th November In 2013, 14-year old Jack Carroll took ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ audiences by storm when he became overall runner up with his stand-up routine poking fun at his disability. He has matured into a busy 24-year-old comedian and actor. Enjoy a hilarious, and hysterical evening of entertainment, experiencing the lighter side of Jack Carroll’s observations on life coping with Cerebral Palsy in the modern world. ‘Walking Funny’ is a much needed funny, warm and carefree evening spent during these exceedingly difficult times. Tickets Friday Night Live: Zha Olu & No Nonsense Friday 4th November Zha Olu – is a balanced mix of melancholic folk, soul, and pop. She is a part of the LGBTQ+ community and many ofher songs explore real life experiences, both personal and what she observes in the world around her. Being on the local music scene since 2016, she has supported the likes of The Lottery Winners, Mica Paris, Dave McCabe (Zutons) & Ian Skelly (The Coral.) As well as her own stuff she has been on the gig scene putting herown twist on popular covers using vocals, acoustic guitar and percussive stomp pedal. No Nonsense – are a 4-piece band from Halifax who are new to the music scene!After doing their first performance only a few weeks ago and wowing the crowd, we are looking forward towhat they are going to bring to the table here at Square Chapel. Tickets Jeneba Kanneh- Mason Red Cross Recital Saturday 5th November In aid of International Red Cross Pianist Jeneba Kanneh-Mason returns to captivate audiences with her “maturity in performance and interpretation […], the former an uncanny phenomenon” (Fraser). The third of the Kanneh-Mason clan to establish herself as a soloist, Jeneba recently made her BBC Proms debut with the Chineke! Orchestra, performing the Florence Price Concerto and was heralded by the press as “demonstrating musical insight, technical acuity, and an engaging performing persona” (Music OMH). Tickets The Stumble Saturday 5th November This is the band that Lazy Lester wanted to take back to the States with him and the band that the blues press widely recognise as one of the strongest live acts that the genre can boast in the UK. The Blues is where it all started for The Stumble, with founding member Colin Black and drummer/songwriter Boyd Tonner both major figures in the new wave blues boom coming out of Glasgow in the 80’s and 90’s. Expect raw power, emotion, joyous melodies, heartbreaking blues and a guaranteed good time with a band on the crest of a wave. Tickets Nosferatu with live accompaniment from Chris Green Saturday 5th November Nosferatu (1922) is arguably the film that gave birth to the horror genre. It’s combination of expressionistic acting and unforgettable images render it just as powerful and unsettling today as when it first thrilled cinema goers 100 years ago. Chris Green’s new score was commissioned by English Heritage. The music is a haunting blend of electronic and acoustic instruments performed live by the composer and combined with FW Murnau’s iconic images makes for a genuinely remarkable and unique cinematic experience. Tickets The Bubble Show Sunday 6th November The Bubble Show is a unique blend of magic, storytelling, and bubble art! Enjoy bouncy bubbles, bubbles inside bubbles, smoke bubbles, square bubbles, giant bubbles, and even fire bubbles!
