Welcome to the November monthly writing news about all
that's been happening and is coming up at Retreat West!
|
|
After running four
online festivals dedicated to flash fiction and the short story, we're
really excited to be hosting a 1-day novel writing one in 2023. We'll
be releasing info and ticket sales soon (unless you're a community member
in which case you can buy them already!) but we have a keynote from a
brilliant author who has had 4 successful books published in 2 years
and has just signed another 4 book deal, 3 workshops with author
tutors, and a panel Q&A with literary agents. Keep your eye on the
newsletter and website for more info! We'll also be running a 1-day
flash fest in the new year too.
With Christmas fast
approaching, if you're fed up of getting naff presents you can tell
your loved ones to buy you Retreat
West Gift Cards instead! They can be used to buy courses,
mentoring, critiques and memberships. They are also available in our Ko-Fi shop.
In January 2023, it
will have been 3 years since we launched our fab online community
and we have over 200 writers who have joined us to keep learning about
writing and make connections. We've taken the difficult decision to
increase membership costs from January for the first time since we
started. So our Community Collaborator membership will go up from £25
to £35 and the Editorial Enthusiast from £50 to £60. Any existing
members on those packages get to keep the original price but all new
members will join at the higher price from 9th January 2023. This is
still great value to get writing sessions, workshops, feedback and more
included!
Also, as we have
stopped running some of the competitions that are included with
membership packages, these will be updated to include submission to our
new journal, WestWord, instead. Submission will
open for the first time on 1st January and we are looking for micros,
flashes and short stories on the theme of VISION. Get submission info here.
With love from Amanda and Gaynor x
PS. If you would like to buy us a coffee to
say thanks for all we do to bring you great writing and submission
opportunities, we'd be very grateful as our costs just keep on
rising!
