This week, the Seven programme has a definite jazz theme, but with some comedy, theatre and music thrown in for those with more eclectic tastes. Gothic theatre at Seven on Saturday 9th October 7.30pm, with Spud Theatre – The Vampyre The play, written and performed by Laurie Toczek, is based on 'The Vampyre' by John Polidori, the inspiration for which was a story told by Lord Byron. £10. On Sunday 10th October, 1.30-4pm, it is the very popular, JazzLeeds – Jazz Cafe and Jam Session, the friendliest jazz jam session in town! It’s finally here! This weekend will see the premiere of the 19 on-demand events which form our 2021 Digital Programme.
We’re really excited by this programme, which has allowed us to work with acclaimed authors from all over the world and to cover a really wide range of interests. You’ll find acclaimed authors including Pat Barker, Francis Spufford, Willy Vlautin, Hadley Freeman, Musa Okwonga, Kadija Sesay, Abigail Dean, Fiona Benson and many more. Find the full list below.

Toni Morrison (1931-2019) was the author of 11 highly acclaimed novels, including The Bluest Eye, Beloved, Paradise and Love. Yvonne Battle-Felton was the winner of a Northern Writers’ Award in 2017 for her novel, Remembered, which has drawn comparisons with Toni Morrison’s Beloved.

Rose Condo is an award-winning Canadian poet currently based in Salford. She studied Theatre & Drama at the University of Winnipeg and earned her MA in Theatre & Development Studies at the University of Leeds. She has been writing, performing and teaching for over 20 years.
Her debut poetry collection After the Storm (Nov 2020) is available from Flapjack Press. She has won many Poetry Slams and has supported acclaimed spoken word artists such as Shane Koyczan and Hollie McNish.

On Monday 18 October at Huddersfield Town Hall, Katherine Dienes-Williams makes her first organ concert recital visit with a sparkling programme ranging from the baroque to the present day. In Dewsbury on Wednesday 20 October, Opera North’s Head of Music David Cowan is joined at the piano by award-winning soprano Katherine Broderick for a selection of songs from Germany, France and England on life, themes of love and loss.
