That Jazz @ Seven
This week, the Seven programme has a definite jazz theme, but with some
comedy, theatre and music thrown in for those with more eclectic
tastes.
For the month of October, Seven's Art Exhibtion
features photos by Max Farrar of jazz musicians, writers and poets,
featuring Tony Morrison, Alice Walker, Jean Binta Breeze, Ntozake
Shange, Betty Carter and others, part of a brilliant archive taken over
the decades..
Tonight, Wednesday 6th
October, 6-7.15pm, it is Rush Hour Jazz
with Leeds saxplayer, Will Howard + JazzLeeds Trio. In Seven Bar. PWYF. Also
tonight, 7.30pm,
the return of Murder Inc, the
comedy murder mystery that is made to order. .The cast takes your
suggestions and weaves a sordid tale for you that is pacy and packed
with belly laughs. Venue,

Tomorrow, Thursday 7th
October, JazzLeeds presents Nikki
Iles Jazz Orchestra. Award winning pianist and composer,
Nikki Iles takes her 20 piece Jazz Orchestra on a national tour. 2 concerts at 7pm and 9pm. Just
a very few seats left. £25/ £20 conc.
This weekend, look forward to Pop-up – On the Move,
providing world cuisine with a street food twist. Friday 8th October from 5pm. Sat
9th October and Sunday 10th October from 12 noon.
On Friday 8th October,
8pm, the long-awaited return of Colour of Light,
a guitar, mandolin, banjo, double bass and harmonica ensemble who blend
folk, blues, bluegrass and classical influences into their own unique
sound. As individuals these musicians have performed at Glastonbury and
Latitude Festivals.

Gothic theatre at Seven on Saturday
9th October 7.30pm, with Spud Theatre – The Vampyre
The play, written and performed by Laurie Toczek, is based on 'The
Vampyre' by John Polidori, the inspiration for which was a story told
by Lord Byron. £10.
On Sunday 10th
October, 1.30-4pm, it is the very popular, JazzLeeds – Jazz Cafe and
Jam Session, the friendliest jazz jam session in town!
Join in and play/sing with the backing trio. £7 full / £5 conc. Tickets in
advance only. Free for performers
An event special on Sunday
10th October, 7.30pm, Mewl Music – Remembering
John Prine. Cover versions and interpretations by local
musicians, celebrating the life and music of American singer songwriter
John Prine. Advance £10
/£7.50 conc, £12.50 / £10 conc on the door.
And, a great way to end the weekend, also on Sunday 10th October, 7pm, the
Seven Quiz
Test your knowledge in a relaxed environment. £5 per team.
