Extended Deadline for Going Digital Competition!
We are really looking forward to receiving your submissions of new
and exciting digital work to our Going Digital competition. We are
happy to share that you now have an extra week to submit your piece
& be considered for one of the £300 cash prizes!

This year we're running two competitions as part of
our all-virtual National Black Writers Conference 2021, 20th & 21st
November, with panellists who are all women and non-binary people,
for audiences of everyone, everywhere.
Both competitions are open to Global Majority women and non-binary
people (i.e., from the African, Caribbean, South Asian,
Southeast Asian, East Asian, Middle Eastern, Arabic Diasporas, as
well as Indigenous communities).
Winners from both competitions will be announced at the Conference.
The Competitions
Going Digital Competition
We're looking for compelling new forms of digital work -- must-see
mind-blowing pieces that show the way for the possibilities that
writers can explore.
It must be all-new original work, by one or a group of authors, no
more than five minutes long.
Prizes
Three equal winners of £300 each.
Winners will be presented during the Going Digital panel on
Sunday 21st November 2021.

"We Want to Dream"
Competition
Write something that either begins or ends with the line "We
Want to Dream " - our Conference theme. Video yourself or
anyone performing it. Videos must be longer than 30
seconds but shorter than two minutes.
Selected entries will be shown throughout the Conference weekend,
with the winners announced after the final event on
Sunday 21st November 2021.

Terms: Open to
Global Majority women and non-binary people (i.e., from the
African, Caribbean, South Asian, Southeast Asian, East Asian,
Middle Eastern, Arabic Diasporas, as well as Indigenous
communities). Copyright remains with authors. By entering
participants agree to their submission being screened at the
National Black Writers Conference 2021 and published across
Commonword/Cultureword’s social media, website, newsletter for up
to 1 year after the conference date. This agreement also covers the
option for Commonword/Cultureword to print in physical form under
its Crocus Books imprint or other Commonword/Cultureword imprints
upon payment in accordance with other Commonword/Cultureword
