My Family Creates
My Family
Creates is
a Huddersfield
Literature Festival project
to provide free online creative activities specially designed for
SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) families, with
particular focus on those of South Asian, African and Caribbean
heritage.
The videos and downloadable activity packs will feature creative
writing, dance, creative and physical movement, sensory drama and
wellbeing activities – delivered by industry experts, Salma Zaman
(pictured) and Nisha Lall.
Released in time for the school summer holidays Kirklees,
the activity packs will be available to download from the
Festival website and the videos will be hosted on the HLF YouTube
channel, and then made available to SEND schools, organisations
and networks.
The aim is to improve confidence, self-esteem and wellbeing, and
to reduce isolation for participants, while encouraging families
to try new creative activities in the familiar setting of their
own homes and to bond over shared experiences.
This project
has the support of a range of local partners.

independent bookshop partners, Read Bookshop in Holmfirth and Fox
Lane Books in North Yorkshire...
If you
attend any author talks or workshops at this year's festival
and want to order their books, your local independent bookshop is
always happy to help - it's been a tough year for everyone
and booksellers have had to adapt to doing a lot more of their
sales online.
James and
Louise at Read and Kirstie at Fox Lane will be happy to take your
orders and arrange delivery - just click on the logos above
