Creative
Kirklees Newsletter 8 June 2021
|
It’s been
a fantastic start for Woven
in Kirklees since it launched at the weekend with the yarn
bombing of Huddersfield Train Station (a must see!) and now it’s in
full swing with an abundance of things to see and do - join in if you can
and celebrate the innovation in textiles in Kirklees. Here are just
another couple of ideas:
Over the
next three Saturdays within the centre of Dewsbury, Andrew Warburton’s
temporary textiles artwork ‘Sculpting
a Continent’ will be on display and he will be there inviting you to
give hand tufting a go – it looks like great fun!
Artists
Adrian & Annabel will be embracing Kirklees in a visual HUG,
inviting local residents in Cleckheaton, Heckmondwike and Dewsbury to
create their own textile artworks to weave into fences as they
demonstrate weaving techniques enabling them to weave your own words
of encouragement and optimism.
The full
and fabulous programme is available on the Woven website – all live events
are being delivered with covid safety measures in place and a lot of them
are outside so fingers crossed the sun will keep shining!
Also just
to mention artists and arts organisations are moving back into
their Temporary
Contemporary units in the Piazza Shopping Centre this month.
Activities are planned and you will be able to walk around the Piazza
outside and enjoy the exhibitions and window displays put on for WOVEN
and Our Biennale.
Have a
great week everyone and please see more ideas of what you can get up to
(including more Woven events) below.
