Rent Relief

When the going gets tough, the tough get going. In this case, the tough get going to help.
We recently had a chance to interview Fred Joseph, author, entrepreneur, and organizer of the Rent Relief Fund.
In less than a month, Fred has been able to raise over $300,000 to help over a thousand people pay for rent & groceries.

Art Funding Relief

Artists have banded together to raise funds for hospitals saving lives. Thanks to their sales and efforts, they've managed to raise $1.3 million.
Samantha Casolari, a Brooklyn based photographer and video artist initiated the fundraiser and lead it to incredible success.

Subway Operator Remains Brave

After battling and defeating cancer, Wayne Wong is now battling the coronavirus for the sake of NYC's essential workers.
Wong works to operate one of the busy and necessary lines such as the E train. Amidst a personal loss in his family due to the virus, he still returns to work and keep the city going.

International Grocery Items

We're all dealing with a shift and that's even pertaining to our shopping lists. Products like Kimchi, atta flour, curry powders, and more are now available at specific grocery stores with international cuisine in mind.
See if there is a store near you on this list and stock up to create something new or something that reminds you of home.

What's up New York,
Today's Wednesday weather is chilly and cloudy.
We're all getting creative in the kitchen and that's why there's no better time to start a new group chat to discuss your quarantine meals. 📲🥘
Messages of gratitude, humility, and love beam across the city thanks to illustrator Edel Rodriguez. 🎨🌆
Jhonelly Gil, a janitor at Bellevue discusses how prayer and loyalty to his hospital family power him through working each day. 😷🏥

New York Cares

During dreary skies, the works of illustrator Edel Rodriguez sends love to medical staff and personnel across NYC. The pieces on display in the city are recreations of the "I Love NY" artwork.
Instead, at the center of the pieces are medical staff and it is the city showing them love.

Brave Essential Workforce

While others lose their head under the pressures of the pandemic, essential workers like Jhonelly Gil continue to show up and do their job daily. As a janitor for the Bellevue Hospital, Jhonelly cleans up urine, blood, and other fluids from coronavirus patients in the ER.
His continued efforts have created a safer space for patients as well as staff during this harsh time.

The Ramen Brotherhood

There's no better time to connect with friends over your kitchen mishaps then right now. You can start up a new group chat to share recipes, cooking tips, and photos so your culinary practice doesn't feel solitary.
Read about one individual's experience with a food-based group chat and the surprising joy it brought them.
