DIGITAL POETRY WORKSHOP WITH SOPHIA THAKUR

For ages 12-19

This month's B-Lit poetry workshop, for young people aged 12 - 19, will be hosted by non other than the amazing Sophia Thakur. Sophia is a multi-award-winning poet whose debut collection Somebody Give This Heart A Pen was published in October 2019. You may remember Sophia from previous visits to BLF, notably her breathtaking performance at our event The Hate U Give with Angie Thomas.

Hosted by Bradford favourite, Kirsty Taylor, our Open-Mic night is open to all and will take place on Instagram live featuring performances from both Kirsty and Sophia. Tune in from 5.30pm - 7pm!
Taking part is easy. Just post to Instagram Stories tagging @BradfordLitFest with the hashtag #BLit and we’ll share your performance with our followers.
Want to remain anonymous? No problem. Just email your performance to us at marketing@bradfordlitfest.co.uk and we’ll post it to our own account. You don’t even have to show your face – perhaps you want to point the camera at the tree in the garden? Or just take a picture of your written poem? That’s fine too!

A multi-award-winning writer and poet, Sophia Thakur is a unique voice. She has collaborated with the likes of MTV, NIKE, TEDx, and performed her work at some of the UK’s biggest music festivals and venues including Glastonbury, Roundhouse, Tate Britain and many more. Sophia’s debut poetry collection  SOMEBODY GIVE THIS HEART A PEN was published in October 2019.

Kirsty is a teacher and writer from Bradford. Winner of BBC Verb New Voices, she has shared her work on Radio 3 along with festivals and events across the country. Passionate about people and fascinated by their stories, Kirsty gives real insight into the lives of others through her rhythmical style.
