In my regular weekly blogpost feature, here are a few ideas of things to do this weekend for those of my followers who live in or near to Leeds, London and New York:
WIN a
day of pampering at Made Up Leeds, play shuffleboard at Trinity Kitchen and
get a delicious steak sharing platter at Blackhouse...

|
Whether you're feeling strapped for cash
or just want a day out on the cheap, there are loads of free things
to do in Leeds, so many in fact, that our list is up to 50. From long
walks in the countryside to a game of tennis and even a spot of afternoon
tea, round up your mates and head out on a new adventure that won't cost
you a penny. After all, payday only comes round once a month.

Holy meat sweats, this steak sharing
platter is out of this world! With our exclusive offer, you can get a
platter of rump, sirloin and ribeye with sides, sauces and nibbles for
just £30. Hell, we'll even throw in a glass of prosecco! Want
more? Upgrade your starters and add a slab of fillet steak for £20 more.
|
|
|
Trinity Kitchen just got better! It's
now home to two 16-foot shuffleboard tables, so you can challenge your
mates to a game and see who comes out on top. While you play, why not
pour yourself a drink from the city's first self-service beer wall?
You can get all manner of craft brews handpicked by the experts at Beer
Hawk.
|
|
Bonfire Night is almost here,
but where will you go to watch the fireworks in Leeds? We've rounded up
the best displays in the city to help you plan your
big night out. From the huge shindig at Roundhay Park to the
weekend camping extravaganza at Wetherby Racecourse, get ready to see the
sky explode with colour.

Cheap and cheerful has never tasted so
good!
|
|
Leeds has already established itself as
a formidable tech hub, but we haven't reached our full potential yet.
Once we do, Leeds will take its place as the UK's next major tech
city. From cultivating the next generation of digital talent to
creating a dynamic digital ecosystem, we're already well on the
way.
|
|
|
Your time at university flies by, so you
need to make the most of every minute – and we're not just talking about
your studies. Get out and start exploring – there's a whole
world of adventures on your doorstep. From axe-throwing to horror
movie marathons, don't leave uni with regrets.
|
|
Get kitted out in the best fancy dress!
|
|
|
Do you know your Harry Potter from your
Lord of the Rings? Your Beyonce from your Rihanna? Your football from
your rugby? Get your mates together for a night of tough-as-heck general
knowledge questions, head-scratching music rounds and mind-boggling picture
challenges because Leeds has some seriously good pub quizzes!
|
|
Made Up Leeds is back for two whole
days of beauty makeovers, tutorials and demonstrations – and we're
giving you the perfect excuse to go. You'll get a stunning makeover
and a proper pampering session, as well as tickets to Katie Piper's
exclusive Q&A and a feast at The Alchemist!
|
|
|
Crispy chicken katsu, spicy seafood
ramen and soft shell tamaki – you can try it all at Senbon Sukara.
It's surprisingly affordable, but if you're our lucky winner, you won't
have to put your hand in your pocket at all because you'll bag free
Japanese food for a whole year! What are you waiting for? Get your
entries in!

North Cornwall Book Festival
Returning
for the seventh year, North Cornwall Book Festival offers
something slightly different. As an independent, locally-run
literary festival, this largely unknown event may not pull some
of the bigger names you’ve seen at the country’s larger literary
celebrations, however, for what it lacks in size, it certainly
makes up for in passion and authenticity. With an abundance of
workshops, readings and performances on offer across the weekend,
this is certainly not one to miss.

Work Week Thrills
If
you're drinking coffee every morning, you'd probably enjoy making your way
down to the NY Coffee Festival. Taste plenty of robust, smooth and flavored
brews along with coffee bean treats that open the world of coffee-loving to a
new degree.
If that's not your
vice, there are plenty of other exciting things happening in NYC this week in

Budgeting Joy
We'd
all like some budget cuts, especially if it means our allowance for fun
expands! Why is it that life and leisure are so overpriced and how exactly is
that making it more difficult for you to enjoy what the city has to offer?
A study tells us
that the price tag of experiences in the city quite literally prevents it
from being crowned higher on the "most fun" city in America.
|
Quirky Fall Fun
Fall
is famous for color schemes, cozy feelings, frights, and spices. Whether
you're a fan of the oven-baked dishes, pies, pumpkin spice or heavy knitted
shawls, sweaters, and scarves, there's something that makes it special to
you.
In these events
around the city, creators have reached in and found something inspirational
about this season and created art, or experience for you.

Swoon Debuts Murals
Forget
tiny framed works of art this month because ambitious is in need of a bigger
canvas. On the floor of her studio in a former Red Hook factory, the
components of what will become a massive 24-foot-wide art installation are
being nursed by Swoon.
The Brooklyn
artist known as Swoon will be debuting the enormous art work at the IFPDA
Print Art Fair in NYC, amounting to 24-feet in width.

Transit on Time
Enough
complaining, the MTA has finally listened. According to the MTA, Governor
Cuomo and the Transport Workers Union, the trains are set to run faster
moving forward.
A steep goal has
just been set, asking that train schedules run at an increased rate of 50%,
ensuring speedier commutes across the city.
