Make agents say
"yes" with your query
|
|
|
Oftentimes the
decisions of literary agents can seem bewildering. Why do some authors get
hundreds of manuscript requests, while others don’t get any? How can an agent
possibly judge the strength of a project from only a query? How can they
determine a book’s potential by the opening pages alone?
The world of literary agents can be confusing. It can also seem extremely
unfair. During this live webinar, literary agent Andrea Somberg will
demystify the process, revealing what it is that a literary agent is looking
for, and how it is that they arrive at their decision of “yes”—yes, I want to
take this author on as a client, yes I want to sell their book, and yes I
want to help build their career.
In this webinar, Andrea will discuss the four major factors that determine
every agent’s decision. She will reveal the strategic questions that every
agent asks, helping you position your project for optimal success. She will
reveal the steps to crafting a query letter that will yield results and
multiple manuscript requests. And she will discuss the steps to finding an
agent that will help you realize your dreams.
|
All registrants are invited to submit a
query letter for critique. Please wait until
after the live webinar date to submit your critique material. This allows
you to make changes to your marketing plan based on the presentation and
will ensure you receive the most helpful critique possible. All submissions are guaranteed a written critique by Andrea
Somberg. Andrea reserves the right to request more writing from attendees
by e-mail following the event if she deems the writing excellent.

What’s your genre as
a writer? Do you enjoy writing a twisty thriller? Or the tender moments of a
romance? Maybe you love the world building of science fiction.
Whatever your forte,
it’s as much of a challenge to craft a short story as it is a sprawling
novel. And that’s exactly your challenge—should you choose to accept it!
Craft your best
story in 4,000 words or less, in one of six popular genres—thriller/suspense,
science fiction/fantasy, young adult, romance, horror or mystery/crime—and
have a shot at winning $2,500! Plus, you’ll also get to travel to New York
City for the Writer’s Digest Conference!
Each first-place
category winner receives $500, and each winner will be published on
WritersDigest.com.
That’s a lot of
cash—and a lot of recognition. But it’s the type of recognition that you crave
as a writer; recognition that can help make you popular.
