Widescreen Weekend at Science+Media Museum

Widescreen Weekend:
Opening and Closing Night

 
As part of this year's Widescreen Weekend we are excited to be presenting two brand new 70mm prints as our Opening and Closing Night films! Opening night will see a screening of Christopher Nolan’s huge success Dunkirk, with a rare opportunity to see it on 70mm outside of London. For Closing night we are honouring the 100th Anniversary of the Taking of Aqaba with Lawrence of Arabia

Celluloid Saturday

 
To celebrate and champion the revival of celluloid film, the entire Saturday programme of Widescreen Weekend will be dedicated to photochemical film. With screenings in 35mm, 70mm, and 3-strip Cinerama and genre classics such as Apocalypse Now Redux, Suspiria and Jailhouse Rock, this is an event for all film lovers.

BAFTA 70: Jane Petrie in Conversation

 
As part of their 70th anniversary celebrations, BAFTA have partnered with Widescreen Weekend to bring you award-winning costume designer Jane Petrie (Suffragette, ’71, Black Mirror). Jane will discuss her work, her inspirations and her favourite project: Duncan Jones’ directorial debut Moon.
A screening of Moon, introduced by Jane, will follow this event.
