Creative
Kirklees Newsletter 22 August 2017
|
We are focussing on some of the events taking place in the north of the
district this week – with so much on offer we don’t want you to miss a
thing!
In
Mirfield the Creative Arts Hub is
running a day time or evening Watercolour
Course with artist Julia Borodina (this week’s
featured individual artist) and while you’re there you can see the latest
exhibition, Some Stuff Matters, which shows
work from HOOT’s group sessions. Down the
road the West Yorkshire Print
Workshop’s exhibition Frogs, Bears and
Unicorns presents prints, sketchbooks and
drawings from publications by artists and there are plenty of workshops to
join in with too.
In
Batley the Change exhibition, Igniting Imagination,
is on at Batley Art Gallery until 2 September, so pop along and see what
artists and local schools have been getting up to. Peter Pan is in the Park with
Creative Scene’s
outdoor show, but tickets are selling fast so be quick! Or you can plan
ahead for this year’s Batley Festival on
9 September with an amazing line-up of performances and events.
Last
but not least, Dewsbury Arts Group has
an open afternoon on 9 September where you can explore behind the scenes
and find out more about how you can get involved. |

Creative
Kirklees Newsletter 15 August 2017
|
We’ve highlighted a number of workshops and courses for you this week –
some are one-off workshops, others are weekly courses, but either way
there’s a great range to choose from.
Perhaps
you’ve always fancied making clay pendants, trying pyrography, or
creating your own book cover – you can find these workshops at Create Space in Huddersfield.
If you enjoy photography take a look at David Speight
Photography’s one day courses taking place across
Yorkshire. Or if you’ve never drawn or painted before or would like
to improve your art technique go along to the weekly Art Club at Crafty Praxis
starting on 16 August.
You can
find more workshops, courses and events on our What’s On page.
Remember, items in the newsletter are picked out from the Creative
Kirklees website and these are added by artists or creative organisations
with a profile. If you find an event is missing information or the
information isn’t clear please let them know by contacting the profile
owner. If you have a profile and add events make sure you include
as much detail as possible so your audience can find all the information
they need. |

Creative
Kirklees Newsletter 8 August 2017
|
Hi
everyone, we hope you are all getting involved in lots of creative
activities and that you are finding the articles in our Newsletter
useful – please get in touch if you have any comments, we would be happy
to hear from you!
As
usual, we have highlighted a selection of creative things to see and do
over the coming week in the Newsletter but do take a look at the site
itself to see What’s On over the
weeks and months ahead, so you can get things booked in your diaries
and not miss out on anything that takes your fancy. This goes
for News and Opportunities too – remember
items are added to the site on a daily basis!
For
example, coming up in September (8th-10th) is the 4th World Congress of Psychogeography
which is back in Huddersfield for a second time. The
Festival, organised by the Huddersfield
Psychogeography Network, offers free events with over 40 presenters
from several countries. Psychogeography is about how different
environments make us think and feel as we pass through them, and how we
in turn can have an effect upon them – to find out more about it and
about the events available, visit the event page.
Also,
coming up on 23 September is the Onwards
Festival – ‘Onwards’ is a multi-venue music festival showcasing the
unique ‘sites’ and sounds Huddersfield has to offer! Likened to a
pub-crawl with music; ‘Onwards’ guides the participants on a journey of
musical encounters. Utilising some of Huddersfield’s best venues and
pubs, ‘Onwards’ provides a much-needed opportunity to celebrate its
diverse range of community and bubbling local talent. A
definite date for the diary for music lovers out there!
Have a
great week and do keep checking the site! |
