Summer
In The City @ Seven
We're entering the
traditional dark month for theatre, but here at Seven we've a number of
events to entertain for those not lucky enough to be on holiday or who
just prefer the quiet of summer in the city. Perhaps not so quiet
tomorrow, Thursday 23
July around 9pm; enjoy a beer in the company of Leeds Morris
Men performing outside Seven. Free
event.
On Friday 24 July, 8pm, we
are delighted to welcome back The Big Easy.
Since it’s birth in the 1920s, swing has been music for celebration.
Leeds based 6-piece Swing band,The Big Easy have taken some of the
greatest tunes by the giants of swing; Louis Armstrong, Louis Prima, Nina
Simone and many more, added their own interesting arrangements to bring
you a set of the finest swing tunes. £10 / £8 conc.
On Saturday 25 July,
7.30pm, Dr Karla Mistry presents
Dreamstar Cruise Hypnosis Show. Audience members who
volunteer are hypnotised in front of you. Amazing and amusing talents are
then drawn out of these participants on stage. Anyone can volunteer as
long as you have a fun personality and a good imagination! £9 /£6 conc. £10 on the door.
Seven Jazz ends its summer concert season on Sunday 26 July,
1.30-4pm, with the calypso sounds of the Pan Jumby.
This is a Caribbean pan band that plays a blend of contemporary
Trinidadian Calypso, Brazilian Samba and Bossa Nova, Soul tunes, Rumba
and Cha Cha, mixed together with Caribbean Jazz! Leader and local
hero Dudley Nesbitt is an exceptional and unflagging advocate for the art
and culture of the steel pan. With Dudley are Sam Hobbs drums, Barclay
McKay keyboards, Kenny Higgins bass, you won't fail to be smiling and
dancing to their infectious music. £7

On Wednesday 29 July,
8pm, it's Kill For A Seat Comedy with
John Hastings : Edinburgh Preview. “He was fast, polished and had an
original slant. We will hear more of him.” BroadwayBaby.com & Adam
Vincent “Adam Vincent is a hugely promising stand up” Chortle **** “Adam
Vincent is one of those rare comedians who make it all look so easy” The
Age …plus special guests and your funny-making host, Silky. £11 /£9 conc. Doors
7.30pm.
A stonking concert to round off July on Friday 31 July, 8pm, the Jacquelyn Hynes Trio.
Alongside J.Eoin (Guitar/Vocals) and Steph West (Harp), Jacquelyn Hynes
culminates her UK tour at Seven. This talented multi-instrumentalist
(piano, saxophone, melodica, Uilleann pipes and flute) shows she can play
at an ideal tempo, allowing each lovely note, phrase and melody to
breathe. £7 adv / £9
door.

7 August, 7.30pm, plus Seven's International Westerns
Mini-Season, starting with The Good, the Bad, the
Weird on
