Be the first to experience Light Fantastic with two days
of FREE family activities and workshops exploring the science and
wonder of light.
Make your own UV torch and reveal the secrets of invisible light, delve
into the brightly coloured world of chromatropes, and take part in
amazing light drawing shows. From invisible cloaks to lasers that
project on to clouds, science collective ‘The Superposition’ will be
here to inspire and entertain you with their incredible light
experiments. |

Enjoy the magical power of light in our brand new
installation by artist Liz West. Spark your imagination and senses as
you surround yourself in luminous colour and radiant light. Explore the
seemingly endless possibilities of light as you walk among hundreds of
coloured lights which combine with infinity mirrors to create an
endless white glow. |

Exposure: A Tale of Two Planets in Darkness and Light by Cherry Kino
and Alchemy
Mondays,
Thursdays and Saturdays (18 July - 4 September), drop in, free
Artists Cherry
Kino and Alchemy will work together in Gallery Two to produce a brand
new series of artworks. See the artists at work as they develop
photographic prints in a real darkroom and edit cine film by hand. You
can also work with them to create your own cyanotype – a photograph
made without a camera.

Our team of
Explainers will be running lots of hands on activities for the whole
family to enjoy together including shadow puppet storytelling,
interactive demonstrations and making cameraless photographs.

Light
Fantastic is part of our year-long Festival of Light, celebrating the
UNESCO International Year of Light. Look out for more exciting family
events throughout the summer and beyond including The Big Draw this autumn,
plus lots of new Light Fantastic family activities.
