A Somali Village in Lister Park: Weaving Together Industry, Culture and Empire Until Sunday, 1 November (10am - 4pm) at Cartwright Hall FREE This exhibition revisits a key moment in Bradford’s history: the 1904 Great Exhibition in Lister Park. While the event celebrated local industry and innovation, its most popular and profitable attraction was the Somali Village, where 57 men, women and children lived and worked for six months as part of a colonial display. For 70 years, the Eurovision Song Contest has been at the cutting edge of the biggest innovations in broadcasting, from colour television to LED technology and digital staging. - NMFT Young Traders Market (Saturday, 23 May | 10am - 4pm) at Darley Street Market - The market will see the Courtyard filled with traders aged 16 – 30, selling a wide variety of goods.
- Lewis Pugh (Friday, 29 May | 6pm - 8pm) at Darley Street Market - Lewis Pugh, a mainstay of the international folk/punk/country/skiffle scene, makes his Darley Street Kitchen debut, with two sets of politically charged originals and choice covers.
- A Purrfect Day (Saturday, 30 May | 10am - 4pm) at Darley Street Market - Visitors can explore a range of cat‑themed stalls, enjoy talks and activities, take part in a virtual cat show, and follow a fun cat trail around the market. Welfare and advice stalls will be available throughout the day, along with information about the cats currently in RSPCA care and looking for their forever homes.
- Eid at Darley Street (Saturday, 30 May | 11.30am - 3.30pm) at Darley Street Market - Come and explore traditional crafts with experienced artists! Join us for family‑friendly workshops creating clay tiles and paisley prints for our Eid celebrations in the market, delivered by local artist Mussarat Rahman.
- Groovers in the Heart (Saturday, 30 May | 1pm - 3pm) at Darley Street Market - Pav Iqbal, from Bradford party institution Groovers in the Heart, will take over the Darley Street Market courtyard with two hours of feel‑good floor fillers. Expect party classics, rare grooves and a lively atmosphere that will get everyone moving.

Busk BD Saturday, 23 May - Sunday, 24 May (10am - 4pm) across the district FREE Busk BD 2026 is a two-day busking festival taking place on Saturday, 23 May and Sunday, 24 May in Bradford, Shipley, Bingley and Keighley. Delivered by The Underground BFC CIC, in partnership with The Diverse Sound Collective, the festival will bring live music, workshops and family friendly activities to the streets and markets places in Bradford, Shipley and Keighey. The festival will showcase Bradford’s diverse communities and emerging talent. It will also allow local musicians to test out busking in the district, while developing pathways for new buskers through workshops and support network building. Free to attend and enjoy for all. Model Engineering Society event Saturday, 23 May - Sunday, 24 May (11am - 3pm) at Bradford Industrial Museum FREE Come and find out about one of the longest‑established model engineering societies in the country as they spend the weekend at Bradford Industrial Museum. It’s a fantastic day out for all the family, with the chance to get creative together and enjoy time exploring the museum. The miniature train will be running throughout the event, with plenty of opportunities to make marvellous memories along the way. Bingley 1940s Day Saturday, 23 May (9am - 4pm) at Bingley Arts Centre FREE Join Bingley Remembrance Group and Bingley Town Council, in conjunction with Bingley Arts Centre, for a full day celebrating all things 1940s. Haworth and Yorkshire Creatives - Makers Market Saturday, 23 May - Sunday, 24 May (10am - 4pm) at Old School Room, Haworth FREE Haworth & Yorkshire Creatives ‘Makers Market’ is back. Curated by Brontë Bitch who is also based in Haworth, she launched this grassroots event, from scratch with the sole purpose to spotlight exceptional independent makers, crafters, photographers, artists, designers, bakers showcasing handmade products, made in Haworth and across Yorkshire. It’s a sustainable way to support local creatives and shop small. Baildon Farmers' Market Saturday, 23 May (9am - 1pm) in Lower Ian Clough Car Park, Baildon FREE Experience one of the UK’s finest food markets on the fourth Saturday of each month. With on average 25 traders whose stalls display sourdough bread, cheese from the Dales, fresh and smoked fish, herbs, plants and oils, locally grown fruit and vegetables, cakes, jams and preserves, venison and game and much more besides. What’s on at Doe Park Water Activities Centre Doe Park Water Activities Centre situated on Doe Park reservoir in Denholme is a great place to learn, play and have a go at sailing, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, dragon boating, raft building, archery, climbing, abseiling, and high ropes activities Paddle and Play Sessions These sessions are open for individuals and families to hire or launch of sit on tops, open canoes, kayaks, and Paddleboards. They are not instructor led sessions, but staff are on hand to give you the basics and safely get you afloat. So very suitable for novices. A safety boat is also on standby during these sessions.
