Market Turn, the Failure to Meet the Climate Challenge, and What Comes
Next. Beginning in the 1980s, the UK, together with the US
and other high-income countries, began to shift away from social
democracy towards market liberalism – the Market Turn, which arguably
has undermined our capacity for collective action to address global
challenges.The talk, discusses how to make sense of the present moment.

presents Io Capitano.
Seydou and Moussa, two Senegalese teenage cousins, leave their hometown
Dakar to reach Italy and escape poverty. However, between their dreams
and reality lies a labyrinth of checkpoints, the Sahara Desert, and the
vast waters of the Mediterranean. Seven

15th February, 4-6pm, with Winter Warmers – Jon Palmer
Acoustic Trio. A welcome return to Seven Arts for one of our
favourites, a stripped down version of the full 6 piece Jon Palmer
Acoustic Band, but maintaining all the Joy, energy , passion and vigour
of the full band. Seven

Also on Saturday 15th
February, 7pm doors, Flamenco de Leeds – Raices,
without losing purity and depth, this show aims to universalise
Flamenco, make it sing, dance and play. The concert is dedicated
to the memory and legacy of Pablo Dominguez, son of multi award winning
Jazz pianist Chano Dominguez, who died earlier this month, just 38
years old. £23.
A real treat on Sunday
16th February, 1.30pm - 4pm, JazzLeeds – Rod Mason
Quintet play the music of John Scofield and Joe Lovano The
group went into the early 1990’s effectively defining a state of the
art approach to jazz and with the passage of 25 years, the music still
sounds amazingly fresh. Doors
1pm. £12 / £10 conc. £12 on the door. Under 16s free.
And also on Sunday
16th February 7.30pm, test your knowledge in a relaxed
atmosphere – a great way to end the weekend with friends at the Sunday Quiz, the
best in Chapel Allerton. £5
