Summer
is finally here! It’s the perfect time to discover the amazing
events across Kirklees that make the most of the warmer weather,
lighter evenings, and because we live in Yorkshire, those that
aren't entirely weather dependent too! From the Cleckheaton Folk
Festival to an archaeology event at Oakwell Hall, there’s something
for everyone to experience this July without having to stray far
from home.

Market - 3, 6, 10, 13, 17, 20, 24, 27, and 31 July:
Main
market days are every Wednesday and Saturday, where visitors are
greeted by a whole host of traders. Choose from sweets, fruit and
veg and fresh meat and fish, to makeup, pet supplies, and books.

market, held every Friday. Who knows what treasures you'll uncover!

Another
great market for the bargain hunters! Dewsbury's Carless Boot Sale
is everything you'd expect from a car boot, minus the car! Whether

I Could
Be Wrong, I Could Be Right @HTH - 1 July (postponed from 29 May):
He’s a
legend and an icon, a revolutionary and an immortal. John Lydon –
aka Johnny Rotten – changed the face of music and sparked a
cultural revolution. In his spoken word show, Lydon will talk about
how he sees life, along with his unique and extraordinary career,
share his thoughts and take audience questions during a
pyrotechnic, one-off tour.

GAGA - The Ultimate Celebration of Queen @HTH - 19 July:
Be part
of a night like no other as we recreate two magical hours of Queen
live on stage. Celebrating the musicianship, fun and
showmanship, featuring all the hits: Don’t Stop Me Now, I Want to
Break Free, We Are the Champions, We Will Rock You, Bohemian
Rhapsody and more. Shake all over like a jellyfish as we say,
Radio, someone still loves you!

Angie’s Disco @HTH - 13
July:
Fresh
from a host of VIP appearances at festivals and events across the
UK, Angie’s Disco X Paradox Orchestra join forces once again with
Angie’s Disco resident DJ – Ella Heap, to bring an evening of the
biggest House, Disco and Ibiza anthems to Huddersfield Town Hall.
This summer’s evening will bring a spark to the town, with drinks
available throughout the night. Guests are invited to dance the
night away to some of the biggest funky house and disco sounds, all
set to live instruments and vocalists.

Rainforest
Exhibition at Bagshaw Museum from 9 July - 31 August:
Celebrate
the stunning wildlife of rainforests with this fun, colourful, and
informative exhibition by Rainforest Appreciation Artists. Suitable
for all ages, and showcases work by artists from around the world.

SCRAPtastic
craft workshops at Tolson Museum - 24 & 31 July:
Join
Fairandfunky for creative making sessions. SCRAPtastic workshops
only use recycled materials to create individual works of art. On
24 July, they'll be making beautiful bird mobiles, and on 31 July
they'll be making parrot pen pot pals, both inspired by the bird
room at the museum. Each session runs from 11am till 1pm; and 2pm -
4pm. Drop in any time and stay for as long as you like! Suitable
for ages 3-12 years and costs just £3.50 per crafter (cash only).

Uncovering
the past with Geophysics at Oakwell Hall - 20 and 21 July:
Learn
the secrets of how archaeologists see beneath the soil without
digging and join West Yorkshire Archaeological Service and the West
Yorkshire Archaeological Advisory Service as they explore the
hidden history of Oakwell Hall with Geophysics. The team will be
conducting surveys on the front lawn of the Hall, meet with them,
see the equipment in action, and discover the results!

Cleckheaton
Folk Festival - 5-7 July:
This
family-friendly Folk Festival returns! With large and small
concerts, music sessions, singarounds, workshops, meets, music
hall, and informal concerts in town centre cafes, you can’t fail to
get swept up in the music. It opens with a traditional Festival
Parade on Saturday morning, and conclude on Sunday afternoon with a
Family Fun day.

Livefields
Festival - 12-14 July:
Founded
in 2019, Livefields Festival features the UK’s top tribute acts for
people from West Yorkshire, Manchester, Sheffield and beyond.
2024’s festival takes place at Oakwell Hall, and features seven
amazing bands. They really will get you rocking!

Onwards
Festival 2024 'Through The Valley' - 20-21 July:
For the
first time ever, this popular festival is being held in the Colne
Valley. Experience a full day of gorgeous music in the beautiful
landscape between Slaithwaite and Marsden. Enjoy the variety of the
Colne Valley's independent music venues and experience live
performances from some fine bands and musicians.

Holmfirth
Artweek - 7 - 13 July:
The
local event with a national reputation! It’s astounding how much
artistic talent there is locally, and that’s what makes the event
such a success every year, with visitors coming from all over the
country. The main exhibition will be in Holmfirth Civic Hall, with
fringe exhibitions throughout Holme Valley and beyond.

Huddersfield
Stitch Social - 9 July:
A
monthly meet-up where crafters of all ages and backgrounds gather
together on one evening each month from 6pm - 8pm. Participants are
welcome to bring along any stitch-based projects (sewing, knitting,
crochet, patchwork, quilting etc) to make and chat alongside
others.

Beauty
and the Beast at Oakwell Hall - 25 July:
When an
arrogant prince is cursed to live as a hideous beast, his only hope

all the family!
