Dear Reader,

A cinema outing to see a sneaky preview of the new animated adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s beautiful Kensuke’s Kingdom let me wallow in a gratifyingly pre-digital world. Morpurgo knows how to tear your heart yet heal it afterwards and the tears were bubbling (in a good way). But what it mostly gave me (and my 10-year-old son) was a vision of adventure, nature and relationships without a handheld device in sight. I know phones are useful but boredom, time in nature, risk-taking and good relationships are far more so. A must see for children and adults alike – and coming to cinemas in August.

Have a great week.
