75 Mines. 3 Sisters. 1 Cause. (And a six pack
of Babycham)
Marking the fortieth anniversary of the 1984
miners’ strike, Yorkshire-based, radical theatre company Red
Ladder return to Huddersfield with their musical-comedy.
Told through sweet harmonies and witty
one-liners, in this female-only production there are no
miners and no cops. Instead everyday squabbles collide with a
strike that forces three sisters, Olive, Mary and Isabel, to
question their lives, their relationships and their family
ties.
From bored working class women living in the
shadow of their miner husbands to feisty and committed
campaigners in their branch of Women Against Pit Closures,
follow the sisters fortunes in a pit village, hit hard by the
Government’s war against the miners.
