Book for our Spark Young Writers groups!

You can still book for the Spark Young Writers groups for the 2022-2023 school year, starting in September 2022.

We will be offering 14 in-person groups as well as 2 online groups:

·     7 for junior aged children

·     7 for secondary/high school children or teens

·     2 online-only groups: for junior and teen writers

Every month on a Saturday we are meeting for 2 hours of fun, friendly, and informal creative writing workshops. You can search for the right group for your child according to age, location or time of day here.

We can also offer free places for children and young people who qualify for free school meals or pupil premium. Just let us know during the application process and we can approve the free place. You can see the elegibility criteria here

Our newest Spark anthology

We are so proud to present The World That I Know, an anthology produced by young writers who participated in Spark Young Writers during the school year 2021-2022.

Even though attending the creative writing groups online created some unique challenges for our young writers, they created some wonderful writing despite that, which you can discover here!

This anthology contains varied writings of poems, stories, scripts, reviews, and letters by our young writers who range from 7-18 years old.

Available now as ebook or paperback.

WANTED: Assistant writers for Hereford!

Volunteer with us and be part of delivering a mix of in-person or online children's writing workshops!

As Assistant Writer, you will work with a professional author, poet, or scriptwriter to develop a workshop once a month, between September 2022 and July 2023.

·     Love to share their creativity and imagination on creative writing.

·     Wants to work with children and help develop the next generation of talent in the West Midlands.

Our past volunteers have gone on to do PGCEs, run their own workshops, or return as a Lead Writer.
