Cleckheaton Writers Group minutes, meeting 5 September 2022

Cleckheaton Writers Group met on Monday 5 September at Cleckheaton Library and the minutes, kindly taken by Gemma, are:

Minutes from last meeting approved.

Since last meeting:

Kathy has continued with the priest pieces, nearly done. Bought Emotional Thesaurus on kindle. Wrote an August drabble. Has bought a book on generating writing ideas and will bring it to the next meeting. 

Michelle has written an article about a group she belongs to, Run Together. We discussed where it could be published. Also got her drabble down to 144 words.

Gemma has been editing. Also purchased the 4 Thesaurus books.

Feedback:

Michelle's article was called Fighting Fit with Run Together. Feedback was the basics are all there, it just needed her personal story of how she started and why she stayed. That would give it a connection to the audience. Michelle is going to redraft her article and bring it back to the group. 

Kathy' drabble is untitled and took a holiday theme. It was well received and had a clever ending. It led to a discussion on how difficult it is to write a story in 100 words!

For the next meeting:

Kathy will finish the 16 priest pieces. Michelle will work on redrafting her article and write a drabble on the Fall theme. Gemma will continue editing and write a drabble on the same theme. 

Due to the added Bank Holiday, the next meeting will take place at Cleckheaton Library on Monday 26 September 2022 at 5.30pm.
