Where
could writing take you?
|
|
Calling
writers aged 14 -20! Join us on Saturday 27 March 2021 for
our first Teen Writers Conference. Spend the afternoon with other
young writers, talking to professional writers, and participating
in a range of panels.
We will
be joined by novelists, playwrights, screenwriters, poets,
community writers, journalists and more. They will be sharing how
they got into writing, and, more importantly, how they turned an
interest and passion into a career.
|
|
Limited
number of one to ones available.
Book now
to ensure your one to one slot with one of our writers. This is a
great opportunity to talk about your interest in writing, ask
questions about what the future could hold, and receive tailored
information about career routes and writing opportunities that
may suit you.

Panel:
Writers, Agents and Editors
|
|
Our first
panel of the day will introduce you to how an author, agent and
editor work together. Award-winning author of Bearmouth,
Liz Hyder, will be joined by Mireille Harper (editor) and
Silé Edwards (agent at Mushens Entertainment).
Find out
what the role of an editor is, and why they are important. What's
the difference between a fiction and non-fiction editor? We'll
delve into what an editor expects from a writer, and in turn what
a writer expects from their editor. Discover their working
relationship and how together they make a book the best it can
be.
How do you
get an agent? And what do they actually do? We will go over the
role of the agent in the publishing world. We'll discuss whether
you need one, and if you choose to go down that route the
benefits and how to find an agent that suits you.
This panel
will be fully interactive, with chances for young people to ask
questions and share their opinions. We hope that this will help
young writers know what to expect when seeking publication and
give them a head start in taking the next step!
