Ten things to look forward to in 2021, Country and Townhouse

Thanks to Country and Townhouse, here is a list of ten things to look forward to in 2021:

Our pick of kimonos to zhush up your Zoom style, and the need-to-know juice cleanse built for winter

What do you get when you cross Lockdown 3.0Dry January and home-schooling? I can only answer for myself (a frazzled, sober, cake-eating grump with little mastery of year 5 maths), but answers on a postcard please. In the evenings it’s TV dramas (loving The Great and The Serpent – the gorgeous Ellie Bamber is on our next front cover), restaurant takeaway kits and – my new-found love – jigsaw puzzles. Completing my first thousand-piece one felt like a major victory, in an admittedly thin pool.

Have a great week.

WHAT’S KEEPING MY SPIRITS UP

PRACTICAL GEAR

Jeez, it’s cold out there, not to mention wet and muddy. Luckily last year’s more pared back Christmas, I asked for purely practical things. I’ve never felt better weather-prepared and smug to be wearing a Jaxon & James oilcloth fedoraOralay’s thickened down jacket (yes, it’s that coat that sold out last autumn, but it’s back and seriously warm) and Sorel’s Explorer Joan boot (cosy inside and waterproof). The only thing to dress for is a walk and I’m definitely walking it.

KIMONOS

Having avoided ‘Zoom dressing’ in Lockdown One (my MacBook camera died), it now appears the volume has gone too in time for Lockdown Three, so I’ve had to start using my phone for meetings. Cue, I’m zhushing up my black/grey/navy polo neck with a kimono. It adds femininity and just a touch more warmth too. Give it a try.

WINTER CLEANSE

It sounds perverse when you just feel like eating butter-loaded crumpets and jam for breakfast, but actually letting your digestive system take a load off for a few days will leave you clearer of mind, skin and even a little less stretchy of waist. There are many cleanses out there but I recommend PurEarth’s Winter Warmer Juice Cleanse as it’s specifically formulated for the colder months, with plenty of warming cinnamon spiced nut mylks (delicious) and spicy broths.
