Things to do this weekend in Leeds, Bradford and New York

Not sure what to do this weekend? Here are a few ideas for those of my followers who live in, near to or are visiting (or some are virtual) Leeds, Bradford and New York:

Where to get the best Sunday lunch in Leeds and 7 countryside spots you can get to in half an hour...

Live Without Fear @ Seven

A chilly autumn wind and round of new Covid-related restrictions may have blown in a less optimsitic outlook, but we'll do our best at Seven to lighten the mood.

Firstly, this weekend's food pop-up is Shouk Middle Eastern Street Feast. Originating from Yemeni cuisine, this delicious vegetarian friendly food includes delicious grilled pitta bread sandwiches. Today, Friday 25 September from 5-8pm, and Saturday 12noon-8pm and Sunday 12noon - 5pm. Enjoy!

Turning to music, three great offerings over the weekend. Today, Friday 25 September, 6pm-8pm, Mewl Music presents folk, rock, power-pop singer-songwriter, Nick Hall.  Pay What You Feel donations.

Tomorrow, Saturday 26 September, 5pm- 7pm as part of what would have been World On Our Doorstep Festival, Seven welcomes energetic gypsy jazz quartet, Manouche a Trois. PWYF donations.

On Sunday 27 September, 1.30-3.30pm, Courtyard Jazz – Tom Sharp Quartet. Featuring some of the best young musicians in Leeds, namely the expressive jazz trumpet of Tom Sharp, with Nico Widdowson on piano, Fergus Quill on bass and Josh Smout on drums. Organised by JazzLeeds. PAYF donations.

All our music events are fully distanced with table service. Please respect staff wishes if they ask you to move - this will only be for the safety of customers. Also please donate generously - these are tough times for musicians and all donations go to the performers. Events are weather-dependent and will be moved inside if necessary. Venue numbers limited to 40.

Also on Sunday 27 September, 8pm, look forward to the Sunday Quiz. Test your knowledge in a relaxed, socially distanced atmosphere – a great way to challenge those little grey cells and end the weekend with friends and family. £2 per person entry with prizes. If you have not been to the quiz before and would like to take part, please email info@sevenleeds.co.uk and we will send details.

Heads up for the return of comedy on Wednesday 30 September with Silky & Friends, a new show of comedy, music and more. Shorter, sweeter, distanced, neater, inside, so you needn’t bring a heater. The later show is sold out but still tickets available for Silky & Friends Extra Show at 5.30pm. Please arrive at 5.15pm to take your seats. Table service for drinks – please order before the start of the show.

We look forward to seeing you at Seven very soon. Every £ spent at Seven helps support high quality arts in a local setting.
