‘Insulted Belarus(sia)’ - a new play in seven
monologues - is an urgent cry from the heart
of celebrated Belarusian playwright Andrei Kurichik.
It documents the recent events of the Belarusian revolution; the
violence and repression employed by the authorities to repress
freedom-seeking Belarusians, and how solidarity, truth and faith
in human values lead to victory over evil.
All characters have real prototypes: in some you will
recognise current leaders of the country, in others - incredible
Belarusians who have gone out to battle the totalitarian
machine.
Slung Low are one of more than 40 theatre companies across 10
countries who are organising readings of the play in solidarity
with the people of Belarus.
