'‘The most
celebrated African-American writer of crime fiction. A consummate
storyteller.’ – Financial Times
|
How can writers challenge the unequal distribution
of power and authority in the world today?
Join us tonight at 7.30pm BST on YouTube as Attica
Locke, award-winning US author and screenwriter for Little
Fires Everywhere, delivers a powerful new commission. She
will draw from her own career as a bestselling novelist to
reflect on how stories and characters can pull back the veil on
some forms of hidden power.
The event will be followed by a live Q&A where
you can submit your questions to Attica directly.
Friday 11 September, 7.30pm BST, YouTube, free

'I frequently
talk about crime fiction as being about the illusion of scarcity.
It has the ability to lay bare the sickness in the idea that
there is not enough. Not enough land, not enough land...not
enough money. I want & you got, so I’m gonna do something
violent to take it.'
– Attica Locke
