After unit sales of print books hit a 2020 high in the week ended June 20, sales fell 9.6% at outlets that report to NPD BookScan. Still, sales were up 18% over the comparable period in 2019. more

A judge held that because Simon & Schuster is not a party to the confidentiality agreement at the heart of the case they can continue to move forward with its planned July 28 publication, although a July 10 hearing on the matter still looms. more

The American Booksellers Association and Out of Print have collaborated on a new line of book-themed face masks, which go on sale on July 6. A portion of each sale will be donated to the Book Industry Charitable Foundation. more

Booksellers are increasingly willing to speak publicly about challenging and offensive customers, breaking with a wall of silence about those interactions that has largely held up even in an age of social media. more
