Read Kirklees From Home: July 10 - 16

Hello out there.
No hashtag days coming up? Feeling a little lost? At a crossroads and not sure which way to turn?
No excuse to put together a collection of books about maps then. There's another selection which seems to have lost it's way but at least our library update is heading in the right direction. For our brand new 'Library Adventures Live', the only way is up (apologies for the ear-worm).

As ever, underlined text in blue and most of the images are links to web pages, click or select to go to that page. Read, enjoy, keep in touch and stay safe.

Kirklees Libraries: Recovery update

We are coloured blocks
Kirklees Libraries
As lockdown restrictions change, we are working hard on how and when we can offer physical library services in addition to our online resources.
We want to make sure anyone who uses our service can stay safe, as well as our staff and volunteers, and that we can reach as many Kirklees residents as possible.
We have 23 libraries across Kirklees, which are all different, so each one needs to be planned for individually.
We hope to have more news that we can share very soon but we don't have dates for reopening as yet.

Library Adventures Live

Library Adventures LiveLaunches at 11am on Tuesday July 14th
Each week we will be streaming a fabulous event for children to join in at home or at school. There'll be authors reading from their work and answering your questions, illustrators running draw-alongs and sketching your suggestions and an amazing variety of inspiring and creative activities to do. Each entertaining adventure will be streamed live on Tuesdays at 11am but will be available to catch up with later.

A collection of books about maps, with maps in the title or inside the book (well, the print version at least)
In Here Be Dragons, Stefan Ekman provides a wide-ranging survey of the ubiquitous fantasy map as the point of departure for an in-depth discussion of what such maps can tell us about what is important in the fictional worlds and the stories that take place there ... with particular focus on J. Please take part in our “How good is your home and your local place?” activities to tell us what you think about the decision and what it’s really like to live in your community. Tenants and leaseholders can take part online, via freepost or over the phone:
