What to Do This Weekend

Need some inspiration for how to spend this weekend? From a guide to being a tourist in your own city to the best theatre listings, a jazz festival to the best spring walks, we've rounded up the 6 best ways to spend your weekend in London and the UK beyond.

Plus, here's something that doesn't require a particular location: have a listen to our interiors podcast House Guest. This week's guest: Natalia Miyar.

Went with one of our suggestions? Had a blast? Tell us about it by tagging us on Instagram and Facebook!

What's On in London?

Inject a little culture into your weekend and see a spot of theatre. In our regularly updated guide to London's rich theatre scene, we bring you the best plays to see in town from classics to debuts, adaptations to stormy tragedies. Featuring All About Eve, Come From Away, Alys, Always and more.

If you've fallen out of love with London recently, allow yourself to fall hopelessly back in love with the city by being an 'insider tourist'. The weather's drying up and getting warmer - spring has sprung, after all - so make the most of it by exploring all the historic landmarks that London has to offer, and stop along the way at one of the cosiest cafes and bars in town.

Looking for some interiors inspiration this weekend? Keen to revamp the garden? Head to the Ideal Home Show, returning for its 111th year with over 600 exhibitors. This year’s theme is ‘Best of British’, and it’s the perfect place to get ideas for everything from decorating your living room to maximising space in the office to upcycling.

Fergus McCaffrey is pleased to present an exhibition of Kazuo Shiraga’s paintings from the 1980s and ’90s.
Kazuo Shiraga emerged as one of the most prominent members of the avantgarde group Gutai with his innovative foot painting practice, begun in 1954, in which the artist used his feet to paint powerful and energetic abstract forms. He would set a canvas on the floor of his studio and, suspending his body from a rope hung from the ceiling, push and kick oil paint applied in dynamic strokes over the canvas’ surface.
Weekend Guide
It's March, time to celebrate all the ladies and femme identifying individuals in your life!
Plus hey, it's finally spring and it's the freaking weekend. Say goodbye to winter and hello to nights out. From dance parties to craft pop-ups we have plans for you to get the most out of your weekend.
Pair 🧀 Drink🍷
If we told you there was an enormous cheese production facility located in the heart of Manhattan’s Flatiron District, would you even believe us? Well, there absolutely is!
And now, thanks to Beecher’s Handmade Cheese starting on Monday, April 8th, 15th & 22nd at 7 PM, you can pair five of their deliciously domestic, artisanal cheeses with five ultra unique wines while overlooking their super-impressive cheese factory -- all going down in a super intimate loft perched above the corner of East 20th Street and Broadway!
Short Story Selection
Since writing was invented, mankind has written down everything from important information to fantastical fiction, theories, and to-do lists.
But what has happened to all of the stories throughout history, the ones that we have no proof of or ones we have never even heard of?
The Collectors take them, hoarding them in their library, watched over by the Librarian. Though, no one but the rats ever come in. Until one day, a boy named Thomas with a critical secret turns up.
🍕🍳🥂
So how about rolling up your sleeves and learning how to make a brunch or Neapolitan pie from scratch-- practically however your lil’ heart desires-- and then devouring your very own creation after it's tossed in the oven?!
All the while, you sip on bottomless mimosas, Bellinis, or Prosecco and get served amazing appetizers like disco fries, fresh focaccia bread, and even truffle cheese rice balls. Oh, and to top it all off, what better way to finish off your brunch than with a Nutella-infused or tiramisu dessert? (We know. We had you at dessert. SAME.)
March Guide
Happy March, it's International Women's month.
Despite the cold, there's a lot to celebrate. From Armory week to food crawls through Brooklyn here's your guide to braving the cold and shaking your social calendar up.

Play Down: Bouncy Hoops
Finger Frame
Born in Amagasaki, Japan, in 1924, Shiraga cofounded the Zero Society (Zero-kai) with Saburō Murakami and Akira Kanayama in 1952.
In 1955, he joined the legendary collective Gutai (Gutai Art Association) and made a series of revolutionary works that the art historian Reiko Tomii calls “performance paintings,” including Challenging Mud (1955), in which he wrestled with several tons of mud, and Red Logs (1955), a structure made of wood logs that Shiraga hacked into with an ax. His distinct and inimitable style of foot painting emerged the year before, in 1954.

Pair 🧀 Drink🍷
Instead of being told which cheeses to pair with what wines and when you'll be able to do the pairing yourself. That's right, you're in control of creating an absolutely heavenly combination of wines and cheeses, for your very own palate and taste. No judgments.
Whether you’re a die-hard wine-and-cheese fan or just want to treat yourself after another long day at work, you will be taught how to pair artisan cheeses with the perfect counterparts, while still eating and drinking which wines and cheeses you want when.
New York Faces
Jordan's entrepreneurial spirit started young, native to Guilderland, New York (a suburb of Albany) past entrepreneurial endeavors included a used “bookstore” at the top of her driveway during grade school. Her primary customers being runners in her neighborhood, it even adhered to standard worker protection ordinances, breaks marked by an opened umbrella over her store.
Ten years later she is the founder and CEO of IDK Tonight, your go-to guide to life after the swipe.
Sweet Tickets
Dessert Goals is excited to announce Dessert Goals at Night, a two-hour preview event of the festival from 8-10 pm on Friday, March 22nd, sponsored by Baileys & complete with specialty cocktails and treats available for one night only!

We've partnered with the dessert filled festival for a chance for you to win 2 tickets to the special night, just hit the link below.

The chance to win ends Friday at 10 AM.
Short Story Selection
Winner of the 2014 Hugo Award for Best Short Story, John Chu’s story is full of both magic and science fiction. Instead of rain, in this world water falls on you whenever you tell a lie. Seems like it would only make life difficult for those trying to get away with things right?
However, for our main character Matt, this world presents a real problem for him. His lover questions him on the idea of marriage while he still hasn’t found a way to “come out” to his not-so-forward-thinking parents. An interesting tale on the human psyche, this story truly makes the reader think.
Make 🍕 Drink 🍷
If you’re lucky enough to have been one of the one-thousand attendees who already spent a fun-fueled evening making Neapolitan pizza and drinking bottomless wine with your friends, family, or work squad, then you already know what the hype is about. If not, here’s a quick run-down of how it all goes down.
Please note, if your group is 10 people or more (birthday parties & corporate/team-building events are welcome!), please contact info@spoilednyc.com to discuss setting up a private event.
🍕🍳🥂
The wildly successful and sold-out interactive food experience 'Make Pizza Drink Wine' (now in three locations across Brooklyn and Manhattan) has officially spawned its very own weekend brunch rendition, 'Make (Brunch) Pizza Drink Bubbly: Greenpoint' & 'Make Pizza Drink Bubbly: Hudson Square'.
