Brand new productions and audience favourites – here’s what we have in store… We're delighted to announce our new programme for 2019–20 today. We open with Opera North's first-ever staging of Martinů's rare gem The Greek Passion. With vast choral and orchestral forces, this is set to be one of the essential operatic events of the year. This is followed by revivals of Handel's glittering Giulio Cesare (Julius Caesar) and a true audience favourite – Puccini's La bohème. In winter we present a new production of Kurt Weill's Street Scene, before we welcome back critically-acclaimed productions of Mozart's joyous The Marriage of Figaro and Britten's nail biter: The Turn of the Screw.
