Kirklees Council has agreed a 6% Council Tax rise

Council tax rise
Kirklees Council has agreed a Council Tax rise of 6% in its annual budget meeting.
A 6% Council Tax rise, which includes 3% for the adult social care precept element, will generate approximately £9.7 million in 2018/19.

The Kirklees Democracy Commission are sharing '100 little deeds for local democracy' throughout the year. Please get involved by doing something, however small, to celebrate democracy for everyone. There are ideas for schools, groups and citizens on the Vote 100 Kirklees website.


Try It, Like It, Do It: coming to the Valleys šŸƒ‍♀️

We're looking for organisations in the Valleys to be part of Try it, Like it, Do it. If you're running activities aimed at getting people more physically active, we can help you with:
  • Promotion: let us know about any sessions suitable for beginners or inactive participants that you will be running in this area from March onwards and we can promote them as part of the project.
  • Support: we can help you to set up new sessions.This could include money towards venue hire, coaching costs and beginners equipment if required.
  • Training: for people who want to be new leaders to deliver or support sessions.

Notwestminster 2018
Notwestminster is the free annual participant-led event for everyone who has something positive to say about local democracy and anyone who is up for the challenge of making it better. Two days of workshops, lightning talks, creative activities and social activities at the Media Centre in Huddersfield. There's a special PechaKucha Night and also a Vote 100 stall at Huddersfield Open Market where you can make your own suffragette rosette.

Gateway To Care users wanted for focus group

Do you use the Adult Social Care Gateway to Care service? We're looking for people to share their views in a group discussion. It will last up to 90 minutes and there is a £20 shopping voucher for taking part.
We are running some discussion groups with people who use Gateway to Care to find out what is important to you when you access the service. You'll be part of a group of up to 10 people, answering some questions that will be asked by a facilitator.
