The Cleckheaton Writers Group (CWG) meeting took place on Monday 5 February with Pauline and myself in attendance, Sarah, Neil, Mandy, Alice, Kathy and Arline having passed on their apologies. As there was a library consultation evening starting at 6.30pm in the library, the meeting was a short one.
The minutes of the last meeting were passed and we then spoke about various information on writing a synopsis and Pauline recommended the book The Complete Handbook of Novel Writing by Meg Leder, Jack Heffron and editor of Writers Digest (£11.99) ISBN 1-58297-159-5.
Work in progress updates: I have entered the television drama Northern Writers award and written a couple of prose pieces (one of which I sent to the Eighty Challenge competition) and a couple of poems. Pauline has written two flash fiction pieces and has been considering some of her other finished work for suitable competitions.
There was just time for me to read a couple of chapters of my second novel 'HoA' which is at first draft and the chapters were the climax to the story, the end battle. Pauline enjoyed the chapters which she felt were imaginative and reminded her of Earth Final Conflict which she has started watching on the Horror Channel.
The next meeting of CWG will take place on Monday 19 February 2018 5.30pm-7pm, new members always welcome.
