CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2015 WINNERS!

Kathy Miles wins the £5,000 first prize for poetry with An Elegy for Lace
Judith Edelman wins the £5,000 first prize for short story with Ping at the Zoo
Kit de Waal wins £1,000 first prize for flash fiction for the second time with Crushing Big – she also won in 2014!
Kelleigh Greenberg-Jephcott wins £1,000 plus mentoring for the Peggy Chapman-Andrews Award for a first novel with Swan Song




The 2015 prize-giving took place at Bridport Arts Centre on Saturday 17 October. We were delighted to welcome winners and their guests from across the UK and overseas – some having travelled from as far away as the USA, Thailand and Holland to attend the event. A big thank you to our 2015 judges Roger McGough, Jane Rogers, David Gaffney and Jane Feaver for all their work and support for the competition.

THE PEGGY CHAPMAN-ANDREWS AWARD FOR A FIRST NOVEL

Following the success of the inaugural competition in 2014, were delighted to be able to increase the prizes on offer to the shortlisted writers in 2015. The winner, runner-up and three shortlisted writers all receive cash awards, a manuscript appraisal and a place on an Industry Day in London with partners The Literary Consultancy.

The opening chapters of the winning and runner-up novels can be read on the website.
1st prize  - Kelleigh Greenberg-Jephcott  (link to biog) - Swan Song
Runner-up - Alison Powell - When the Mountain Swallowed the Morning

Kelleigh will be blogging on the website about her mentoring with The Literary Consultancy over the coming months.
 
 
 
 

THE 2016 COMPETITION

The 2016 competition is now open for entries and we are delighted to announce our judges:  Patience Agbabi for poetry, Tessa Hadley for short stories Tim Stevenson for flash fiction and Kerry Young for the PC-A Novel Award.

All online entries submitted by 31 December 2015 will be entered automatically into a prize draw. A randomly selected winner will have their entry fees reimbursed and receive a copy of the 2015 winners anthology.
