On Saturday night, I was honoured to be part of this well-attended event in Newcastle. There were several readers of dark stories, followed by a showing of the Hammer film Horror of Dracula.
As you can see from this picture, the set was amazing, a graveyard complete with earth, skulls, headstones and scattered leaves, blood-red lighting to set the mood and incense sticks and candles.
The schedule was as follows:
Act 1.
Jon Wigglesworth - Blood from the Quill
Gail Lawler - The Midnight Terror
James Wilson - The Rotting Orchids
Emma Whitehall - Dust Motes & Faded Green Velvet...
Andrew Atkinson - Night Stalker
Patrick Welsh - Her Voice in the Rain
Linda Bennett - All Hallows Eve
Act 2.
Victoria Watson - Untitled
Harry Gallagher - The Curse of the Great Eastern
James Grosvenor - The Affair at Dudley Grange
Annie Bates - A Game of Consequences
Karen Naylor - The Mirror
John Pearson - Dead Man's Corner
Kay Stewart - Where Evil Lies
James Tucker - The Follower.
The audience, which looked to be about 70+ people, were treated to some spooky tales, a turnip hunt and the classic Hammer film Horror of Dracula. There was also the chance to purchase an anthology of stories created last year by some of the Writers at the event, Thrills 'n' Chills, available to download on Amazon: http://amzn.to/1CCOYDQ
All the readers were dressed accordingly (see picture below) and even some of the guests.
Thank you to Victoria Watson for organising such a ghoulish night.
