HeyWhen people visit Aysgarth, there's one place almost everyone heads straight for. The waterfalls. And rightly so - they're spectacular. But on my last visit, I stumbled across something I'd wanted to visit for ages...and I honestly think it deserves just as much attention. Just a short walk away is Aysgarth Edwardian Rock Garden - a hidden little oasis that's easy to miss if you don't know it's there. From the road it doesn't look like much. Step through the gate though, and suddenly you're wandering winding paths between towering limestone rocks, tiny alpine plants, hidden grottoes and peaceful little corners that feel completely removed from the outside world. It almost feels like you've discovered somebody's secret garden. We visited on a Friday afternoon and had the entire place to ourselves. It was one of those wonderfully peaceful moments that seem increasingly rare during summer. What I love most is that this isn't a polished tourist attraction. It's quietly looked after by its owners, free to visit during daylight hours, with just a donation box by the entrance if you'd like to help preserve this remarkable little piece of Yorkshire history. If you're planning a trip to Aysgarth Falls this summer, I'd genuinely recommend adding this to your itinerary. It only takes around half an hour to explore, but it's one of those places you'll remember long afterwards. In my full guide I've included: 👉 Read my complete guide to Aysgarth Edwardian Rock Garden here Sometimes the best discoveries aren't the famous ones...they're the places hiding quietly just around the corner. Until our next adventure, P.S. 🌿 One of my favourite details is that this remarkable garden is actually a Grade II listed structure...despite not containing a single building. The reason why is fascinating, and I explain the story in the guide.
