Guided walks Fantastic, scenic walks taking place across the district: Rae Gala Sunday, 5 July (2pm - 4.30pm) in Northcliffe Park FREE Celebrate summer in one of Shipley’s most loved green spaces with the annual Rae Gala, hosted by the Friends of Northcliffe. This family‑friendly afternoon brings together community performers, local groups, and classic gala favourites for a relaxed day out in the park. Oxenhope Charity Straw Race Sunday, 5 July at Waggon and Horse Inn (Hebden Bridge) The Oxenhope Charity Straw Race is back! Teams of two (or larger combined teams) are timed running the race in fancy dress, carrying a bale of straw (20 kgs). The route is approximately 2.5 miles, starting at the Waggon and Horses, with an uphill push to the finish at the Dog and Gun. Prizes are awarded for fastest times and best fancy dress. National Read a Story Celebration Saturday, 11 July (10am - 12pm) at Denso Marston Nature Reserve FREE The celebration encourages people to come and join in a relaxed morning focused on reading stories.
