Leeds Jazz Festival @ Seven


Our Saturday music sessions continue on Saturday 25th May, 4-6pm, Spring Sessions – Diamond Dac. Born and raised on a lonely hill farm in the west Yorkshire Pennines, Dac grew up listening to American roots music on an old crystal set radio. He has allways been obsessed by the music and a real passion for playing. Seven Bar. Pay What You Feel. Organised by Mewl Music.

Also on Saturday 25th May, 7pm, LBCD presents The Lola Hips Hafla with an evening of performances from your favourite bellydance troupes and soloists from Leeds and further afield, showcasing Meilyn’s Lola Hips troupe members. Leeds Jazz Festival 2024 – Jam Session takes place on Sunday 26th May 1.30-4pm. The friendliest jazz jam in town! Come and join in or just enjoy the fun! The Jazz Leeds Trio are there to support all performers. Doors 1pm.£10 /£8.

Also on Sunday 26th May, 7pm, this and every Sunday, the Seven Quiz, a great way to round off the weekend with friends and family. £5 per team. With prizes.

We've got another top Tuesday club event tonight.
Leeds-based non-profit record label Monomyth are showcasing some of the label's talent.

Muck and friends will be taking over the Domino stage from 7:45pm. 

Expect the unexpected, this is what Tuesday club is all about, Domino vibes done differently.

I Hate it Here is an interactive devised piece about zero hours contracts and instability. It centres on Plang, an elderly care worker who loves a boogie, Tara, a nurse with a penchant for Anne Robinson, and Spud, a teenage fast-food worker who would just love a date with fit Clare. Join them for their shift but expect some interruptions from the BIG BOSS.
You will be asked to participate in game shows, sign up for shifts and have the chance to WIN BIG  at BINGO. All of this could be yours if you just sign here.

Over the next few months, our stages are home to fantastic, thought-provoking dance from around the world. Nadia Beugré questions how we view and objectify bodies in L'Homme rare; some of Canada's top street dancers explore the hardship of ageing in street dancing in Crazy Smooth: In My Body; and Qudus Onikeku’s Re:INCARNATION pays homage to the richness of Nigerian culture.

Our eco-focused project is inspired by the tale of "The Man Who Planted Trees" by Jean Giono. The story introduces us to Elzéard Bouffier, a solitary shepherd who dedicated his life to reviving a devastated valley by planting trees. Experience a narrative of hope and determination as we bring this tale to life through stage productions, original songs, and creative artwork.

COMMUNITY CREATIVE DAYS
Unleash your creativity at our Community Creative Days. Explore our family-friendly creative opportunities suitable for all ages and enjoy a display of beautiful poems from our Engaging Neighbourhoods partners.
 

Todmorden College: 11am-4pm, Saturday 1 June
Free drop-in activities all day including making paper bird puppets, flower and leaf printing, and meet our giant puppet. 
 

The Space @ Field Lane, Rastrick​: 11am-4pm, Saturday 15 June
Free drop-in sessions all day including placard making, flower and leaf printing, upcycling and decorating plant pots, and meet the Meadow Sprite puppets.

  • Create a 2-hour clay seed sculpture with ceramist Katie Bates in Todmorden
  • Design handmade greeting cards to send seeds to someone special with artist Jimmy Dolan in Rastrick

TODMORDEN - A session with ceramicist Katie Bates to create wildflower habitat sculptures out of wild clay and seeds which will be left to break down naturally. 

TODMORDEN - Join guide Paul Knights for a 2-mile walk to the edge of town and into the fields, consider its history and celebrate the beauty we encounter. 

 

 

RASTRICK - Artist Jimmy Dolan is offering a mono-printing greeting card workshop to allow you to post seeds to a friend, for ages 11+. 

RASTRICK - Walk Leader Paul Knights is leading 90-minute local walks. Come for a two-mile wander into the landscape surrounding Rastrick, for ages 14+.
