Yamazaki
12 year
Yamazaki is Suntory's flagship single malt whisky from Japan's
first and oldest malt distillery.
This 12-year-old first came onto the market in 1984 and was the
first seriously marketed Japanese single malt whisky.
Since then, it has acquired something of a cult following, and
for good reason! A wonderfully elegant and smooth single malt
that’s certainly not lacking in flavour.
The nose shows light, clean notes of apple. The palate is very
smooth and mildly sweet with flavors of apple and light smoke on
the end. Good but poor price performance.
Our Price £6.07
Usual Price £27.24

impression of the new Sound and Vision Galleries
|
|
Reopening News
We recently announced
that the museum will be reopening at the start of 2025, ready for
Bradford's UK City of Culture year.
The museum was set to
open this summer, but due to unforeseen circumstances the works to
build our new lift are taking longer than expected which means we
won’t be able to welcome you back until next year.
As well as a new
lift, this once-in-a-generation transformation includes a revamped
welcome and two brand new galleries. Our new Sound and Vision
galleries will be open later in 2025.
While we wait to
welcome you back into the building, we're screening films at The
Studio next to the Alhambra Theatre as part of our off-site cinema
programme Pictureville Presents.

Mental
Health Awareness Week: why reading for pleasure is vital for young
minds
Mental Health
Awareness Week runs from 13 to 19 May 2024.
Research from the National Literacy Trust has shown
us that children and young people who like to read are three times
more likely to have better mental health than those who
don’t. Reading for just 10 minutes a day can have astonishing
benefits. Not only is it a brilliant way to relax and unwind,
reading can also help boost your mood, provide an escape from the
pressures of life and even reduce stress levels.
Boost the whole family's wellbeing with a trip to your
local library this mental health awareness week and stock up on
fabulous reads. Or browse our Reading Well for Children
collection of information and advice books selected to support
children's mental health on the Libby app.

You know those trips where you picture all the moments
in your head before you arrive? You think, “I’ll eat this, I’ll see
this, and we’ll laugh our heads off the whole time.” The funny thing
about my trip to Scotland is,
unlike most trips, I went in with zero expectations. I let Steven and
George, local trip-planning experts at Elsewhere by Lonely Planet,
take charge, and it changed everything for me.
Guided by local insight, I set off to see dreamlike castles,
historic forts and lonely lochs and
stepped back in time to experience a Highland village
as it would have been in the 18th century.
The most powerful and enduring moment arrived towards
the end of our journey when our guide George took us to visit Ayr, the
region where my partner Matt’s ancestors lived. To walk along the same
beach his family did three centuries ago simply made the trip.
If you’re considering a visit to Scotland, I highly
suggest letting go and allowing a local expert like Steven to create a
one-of-a-kind itinerary just for you. Having everything arranged in
advance, with local expertise and personal care, made for an unforgettable
and timeless Scottish adventure – an experience that will stay with us
forever.

Our holidays reviewed
in your words…
|
|
|
|
|
Every.
Single. Day. Was. AMAZING! Tom allowed our group to travel at their
own pace and made time for side activities. Never felt as if we were
kept to a strict time schedule. Stopping to watch a school of
porpoises, taking time at great coffee spots or finding the perfect
pub along the way. Enough spontaneity in everyday so the trip didn't
seem structured or forced, it felt special and unique

Plus two incredible shows not to miss next
week!
|
|
Simon
Evans - Have We Met?
|
Have
We Met? finds Simon standing, like Ulysses in Tennyson’s
famous verse, gazing out over the moaning deep and the
twinkling rocks and wondering whether to seek a newer
world? To smite the sounding furrows? To strive, to seek,
and to find? Or whether in fact, to put the kettle on,
crack open the Hobnobs and simply yield?
Evans
skilfully weaves comedy, pathos and narrowly averted
cancellation into an unforgettable two hours of unique
entertainment.
