Artist Tavares Strachan, a Black man in his 30s, stands at the North Pole on a white landscape of ice and snow, wearing an all white snowsuit. He is holding a flag pole, on top of which is a flag that is aquamarine and black divided diagonally with a Gold star on the lower black half and a black 't' on the upper aquamarine half

He's taken his artwork to the North Pole

Strachan is the first person from the Bahamas to reach the North Pole – and he planted a personalised flag in the blue, black and gold of the Bahamas.

He’s constantly experimenting with new materials

Paintings, collage, tapestry, ceramic, glass human figures and hair from Bahamian barbershops – these are just a few of the materials Strachan explores in his works.
