Absurdly Funny @ Seven


Still time to buy tickets for Mewl Music - Simon Mayor & Hilary James playing tonight, Wednesday 8th May, 7.30pm. From folk to blues, Berlioz, classical mandolin show-stoppers, swing fiddle and a clutch of their own notorious comic songs, this will be hugely entertaining evening.  £15. Tickets on the door available.

Tomorrow, Thursday 9th May, 7.30pm, JazzLeeds – Fergus Quill plays Xero Slingsby. Award winning Leeds jazz/experimental bass player/composer/bandleader "Fergus Quill Plays Xero Slingsby” is a musical homage to the Leeds alt-jazz pioneer of the 1980s, alto saxophonist Xero Slingsby (Matthew Coe), and his band The Works. £18/16. 25s and under £9

On Friday 10th May, 7.30pm,  Mewl Music - Paul Thompson performs 'Absurdly Funny! The Great Comic Songbook'. An evening of comic songs, featuring classic material by Jake Thackray, Tom Lehrer, Flanders and Swann, Victoria Wood, Tim Minchin and more performed by the brilliant Paul Thompson. Not to be missed. Now in Seven Bar. Pay What You Feel.

Our Spring Sessions continue with Colour of Light on Saturday 11th May, 4-6pm, Colour of Light is a guitar, mandolin, banjo, double bass and harmonica ensemble who blend folk, blues, bluegrass and classical influences into their own unique sound. Seven Bar. Pay What You Feel.

Also on Saturday 11th May, 7.30pm, Mewl Music – Chechelele and Paula Ryan. Acapella World Music Choir, Chechelele, and singer, songwriter & Gaelic 'funkstress' Paula Ryan present traditional African rhythms and songs that form the core part of their repertoire. Seven Venue. Pay What You Feel.

JazzLeeds - Leeds University Union Big Band is on Sunday 12th May 1.30-4.30pm.The LUU Big Band is a 22-piece Big Band, which plays a wide variety of dance band/big band repertoire including swing, funk, pop and jazz. £12/£10 concessions. Kids 16 and under free.

Also on Sunday 12th May, 7pm, this and every Sunday, the Seven Quiz, a great way to round off the weekend with friends and family. £5 per team. With prizes.

Coming up next week, look out for Jon Scully at Rush Hour Jazz on Wednesday 15th May 6pm, and Cafe Scientifique at 8pm also on 15th. The Screen Seven film on Thursday 16th May 7.30pm is Barbie. Plus an event packed weekend, including An Evening With Roundhay Ukulele Group. Flamenco de Leeds - Jose Franco & Company, and JazzLeeds - Munch Manship Quartet.
