Our Flash Fiction judge Kit de Waal’s award winning novel ‘My Name
is Leon’ (Viking) has been optioned for TV by Sir Lenny
Henry’s Douglas Road Productions. The comedian
said he wanted to retell the story for the screen
because “there are so many young people out there that need their
voice to be heard – perhaps Leon’s story will give them the courage
to speak”.

Our 2016
short story winner Wendy Brandmark has been long-listed for the
Edgehill short story prize for her collection He Runs the Moon: Tales
from the Cities (Holland Park Press, 2016).
This is the only UK-based award that recognizes excellence in a
published short story collection. The shortlist is announced in
June.
