Script Professional Programs & free beginners scriptwriting course

UCLA MFA Screenwriting Instructor Tim Albaugh covers every aspect of the screenwriting process from initial concept though rewrite. Tim's recent screenwriting lecture series guest speakers have included Damon Lindeloff ("Tomorrowland", "The Leftovers", "Lost"), Meg LeFauve ("Inside Out", "The Good Dinosaur"), Craig Borten ("The Dallas Buyers Club"), Billy Ray ("The Hunger Games", "Captain Phillips"), Phyllis Nagy ("Carol") and many more. Students in Tim's program write two feature screenplays over three academic quarters.
 
Neil Landau, author of TV Outside the Box: Trailblazing in the Digital Television Revolution, runs the Writing for Television lecture series where he discusses the state of the business, how to approach it as a new writer, and where the TV industry is headed. Neil's guest speakers from the television industry include current showrunners, producers, directors, and execs from ABC, CBS, NBC, A&E, FOX, Warner Bros TV, the CW, Netflix, HBO and Amazon.  Students in Neil's program write one spec and two original pilots over three academic quarters.
 
Our producing students learn from leading industry experts how to finance, develop, pitch, market and distribute their feature films, TV series and digital projects. Topics covered typically include: Production Preparation, Line Producing, Financing, Development, Story, Pitching, Contracts/Negotiations, Clearance/Copyright, Legal Issues for Independent Projects, Television Development, Feature Film Marketing, Television Marketing, Theatrical Distribution (Domestic and International), Budgeting, Alternative Distribution, Producing/Directing for TV, Documentary, Post-Production, Film Festivals, Producing for Video Games, Producing for Digital Media (Studio and Indie), Multiplatform Storytelling, Virtual Reality and more.
