Widescreen Weekend 2016
Full Programme Announced

Widescreen Weekend is the festival of big, bold cinema experiences. It’s a million miles away from streaming a film on your phone, wrapping you in sound, light and colour and presenting some of the most iconic moments ever brought to the screen. It’s the festival that reminds you why going to the cinema is so magical.

The Festival returns to our brilliant Pictureville Cinema 13-16 October. And once again we’ll be welcoming film lovers from across the world to experience big screen film technology.

The full programme is now available to view online. Highlights include:
• Special guest Jenny Hanley, who appeared in the 1969 Bond movie On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, being interviewed on stage, giving her insider’s story of filming on set of one of cinema’s most successful franchises
• The opening night film The Agony and the Ecstasy (1965) introduced by film historian and Widescreen Weekend guest curator Sir Christopher Frayling
• New Cinerama restorations
• Glorious 70mm screenings
• Student Widescreen Film of the Year competition organised in partnership with BKSTS

Full Widescreen Weekend passes, giving unlimited access to all four days of the event, remain on sale until 23 September 2016 (£110 each, concessions available). Tickets for individual screenings and events will be on sale from 26 September.
