As part of the Brontë 200 celebrations the
Rotary Club of Cleckheaton & District in partnership with the Friends
of Red House and are holding a Brontës in Bloom Flower Festival at
Red House Museum, Gomersal on Saturday, 9th and Sunday 10th July 2016.
Local organisations, schools, churches and businesses will be providing a host of floral displays which have been inspired by the lives, works and creativity of the Brontës. Throughout the weekend the arrangements will be on public display in the historic room settings and period gardens of Red House.
Charlotte Bronte was a regular visitor to Red House in the 1830s as it was the home of her lifelong friend Mary Taylor. The house, Taylor family and the local area all feature prominently in Charlotte's novel Shirley.
On
Saturday, 9th July at 2.30pm there will be a flower arrangement demonstration
by Jane's Floral Designs of Dewsbury. Entry is £2 which includes a prize
draw ticket.
On
Sunday, 10th July musical entertainment will be provided by the Clifton &
Lightcliffe Brass Band.
We
hope that you will be able to support this event and bring along your family
and friends to enjoy the many floral displays in a beautiful historic house.
