It's summer silly season – the hardest time of year to get any writing done – with school holidays, sweltering heat (although I'm not complaining!) and seemingly everybody in publishing taking annual leave all at once... but it's also one of the most exciting times of the year, when we all start heading for the nation's literary hotspots to mingle with other writers and readers at festivals and conferences.

Where are you heading this year? We'll be in Harrogate for the Theakston's Crime Writing Festival this weekend, so come and say hello if you see us, and keep an eye out at any other festivals too – we're hitting the road quite hard this year to pop up at as many events as we can! And if we don't see you, do get in touch to let us know which events you particularly enjoy and why. Maybe we'll be able to find time for them next year.

Whether you're out and about or just relaxing in the sun with a notebook and pen, let us know what you're up to by email, on Facebook or Twitter. We'd love to hear how summer's treating you.

Happy writing!
